Background Information:
Pretty Little Liars is originally a book series by Sara Sheppard that has recently been turned into a teen drama on ABC Family. The main premise of the show is that there are 4 friends, Emily, Aria, Spencer, and Hanna. Their best friend Alison DiLaurentis was murdered, and her murderer is still at large. The girls have recently been harassed by an anonymous person that refers to themselves as “A.” A has been known to torture and taunt the girls with secrets that originally only their friend Ali knew, but now A has also uncovered new secrets on them and will stop at nothing to get revenge on the Pretty Little Liars.
I have also included some extra information at the bottom to explain some of the references that I have included in case you aren't familiar with the TV show or the books because I have included some references from both.
Twist:
Each time somebody is voted out, A will plant a piece of evidence against the person causing the Rosewood Police to consider them a person of interest in the Alison DiLaurentis murder investigation, causing them to be arrested immediately. This can be avoided because hidden somewhere in Rosewood, there is a special lighter that A has planted. This lighter has the power that the person holding it, when they are voted out will be able to burn any evidence that A has against them; allowing them to escape being arrested. The team or person that wins “immunity” will receive a clue to the whereabouts of this lighter. It is their decision whether or not they decide to share the clue, or to keep it to themselves.

Teams:
Welcome to Survivor: Pretty Little Liars, this is not going to be your average game of Survivor. Instead you get to see the Pretty Little Liars and their friends try to follow the clues to solve my identity, and to learn the identity of their dear friend Ali’s murderer. Who am I you ask? Well that’s not important, the players will refer to me as A, and I’m much closer than they think. Why am I doing this? The Pretty Little Liars think they have escaped their past, but I’m here to remind them who’s really in charge. Each player will receive an anonymous text message from moi, and each one will be more deadly than the last. Who will succeed to win the most coveted information that all of Rosewood is searching for? We’ll have to see who is able to survive my fun and twisted game.
Episode 1: Game on, bitches!
Rosewood Pennsylvania, a sleepy little town outside of Philadelphia is the home to four Pretty Little Liars, their family and friends, not to mention an anonymous stalker hell-bent on revenge, and a ruthless killer that has yet to be found. Does this still sound like paradise?
Each contestant has received this text message from A: “I have a surprise for you. Come to Ali’s grave tonight at midnight. Decide not to show up? The consequences will be dire. -A”
The contestants show up as planned to find a typed note taped to Ali’s grave. The note read: “Everybody in Rosewood wants to know who Ali’s killer is. I’ll give you a hint it’s one of you standing here reading this. Which one of you is it? Well that’s for me to know and you to find out. Want to be the one that finds out the most coveted information in town? Be the winner of my game and I’ll tell you. But the road to the end is not going to be easy. I have broken you up into 4 teams. The Brainiacs are Spencer, Toby, Melissa, and Ian. The second team is The Eccentric Artists featuring Aria, Ezra, Jenna, and Noel. The third team is The Fashionistas which features Hanna, Caleb, Mona, and Lucas. And last but not least, Emily, Maya, Nate and Jason you’re on The Prowess. I have created your teams based on who you most associate with. Your first challenge is this: be the first team to dig up one of the other graves here and you’ll be safe; for now that is. What happens to the losers? You’ll just have to wait and see. Start digging, bitches. Kisses! –A”
Spencer’s team quickly fell behind when Spencer tried ordering her sister around which lead to an argument. Hanna’s team wasn’t far behind Spencer’s due to the fact that Hanna didn’t want to get her new Jimmy Choo sandals dirty. Emily’s tribe was in the lead due to their athletic prowess but Aria’s came behind from a close second to win the challenge. Luckily for The Brainiacs, The Fashionistas came in last. Aria’s, Ezra’s, Jenna’s, and Noel’s phones all pinged at the same time alerting them to a new text message.
The new message read, “Good job my little grave diggers, you got lucky this time. But remember one thing, luck always runs out. For winning, you get a little clue, you can share this with others if you so choose. What you’re searching for may help you in some way. What are you looking for? That’s for you to find out, but it’s closer than you think. –A”
The teams began to dissipate, going their separate ways as they headed for what they considered their safe comfortable beds. Before the Fashionistas were able to get out of the graveyard, a new text message was received. “I tried to warn you coming in last would have dire consequences. I need you to decide who you think is the most suspicious of being your dear friend’s killer. I think they’re even on your team! E-mail your vote to prettylittlesecrets@hotmail.com, and don’t bother trying to track me; it won’t work. What will happen to the person that receives the most votes? Well, you’ll see. XO –A”
Mona decided to spend the night at Hanna’s place that night and Caleb was walking them home. After saying goodbye to Lucas, the trio started to head to Hanna’s. On the way there Caleb suggested that out of the three of them the killer must be Lucas, did they see how he kept looking over his shoulder the entire time. Not to mention didn’t he have a reason to kill Ali since she turned the school against him and deemed him a hermaphrodite? The girls both agree that he has to be the one and decide to get rid of Lucas.
The next morning, the Rosewood Police knocked on Lucas’s door. Turns out, he had been framed for arson at an old barn across town. Did he really do it? Well with A around, we’ll never truly know.
Episode 2: Just another Kegger at the Kahn’s
Early the next day, the contestants receive a new text message. “Rise and shine, bitches! Poor little Lucas got the ax. Now he’s sitting down at Rosewood PD. Have the stakes risen yet? Head down to Rosewood Day, I have a surprise waiting for you. Smooches! –A”
They all meet down at Rosewood Day shortly after receiving the text message. They find another typed note taped to the door of Steam, the school’s most popular hang out and coffee shop. The note read, “Welcome to the next part of your journey. You’re one step closer to finding out the identity of the real killer. Scared yet? It could be the person you’re standing next to. But don’t worry they’d probably stab you in the back. In the cafeteria there are stacks of newspapers, one for each group. In the papers there is a message that needs to be decoded. What is the message, where is it located? You’re going to have to figure that out. Whoever finishes first will be deemed the winner, think you can handle it? - A”
While running into the cafeteria, Mona pushes Jenna to the ground; I guess she didn’t get the memo that Jenna is just pretending to be blind. Aria stops to help her out and The Eccentric Artists fall behind. The Brainiacs have learned to work together over night, did they learn to put their differences aside or are they working together out of fear? In the end, The Brainiacs and the Fashionistas finish in first and second place, while The Prowess and The Eccentric Artists fail to even come close to finishing.
The Brainiacs and the Fashionistas soon receive this clue: “Congrats on outsmarting the others. For your hard work I have a small gift, you can share this with others if you see fit. What you’re looking for is something that may help you. It can help you to escape the consequences and to live another day. What is it, well you’ll find out soon enough. Where is it? It’s hidden somewhere you frequent most. –A”
The two losing teams soon receive a message: “Tsk tsk and I had such high hopes for you. Looks like you failed the test and now you’re going to pay. Who do you think the killer is from your group? E-mail me your vote at prettylittlesecrets@hotmail.com. The consequences could be fatal for the person who gets the most votes. –A”
Mona, the gossip queen, sidled up to Noel and started telling him how weird it was for Jenna to have been lying about being blind, like who does that? Aria and Ezra began whispering to each other shortly after seeing this; Mona was the first A before new A showed up, while she finally got released from The Preserve Mental Institution and seems to be her normal self what if her and Noel were working together? Aria turns to Jenna and tells Jenna her theory about Noel and Mona and Jenna quickly agrees, mainly afraid that if she doesn’t she would be the one facing A’s wrath. The three decide that Noel has to be Ali’s killer and send in their votes.
On the way back to his house Jason gets a new text message. When he checks his phone he cringes at the “Anonymous Sender” message on the screen. The new message reads, “Isn’t it weird that Ali went missing right after she rejected Emily’s advances? Coincidence much? I think not. –A” Jason immediately goes to Maya, who recently moved into the old home he shared with his family when Ali was alive. After showing Maya the text message Maya gets suspicious as well and promises Jason that she’ll tell her cousin Nate and see what he thinks. In the meantime Jason decided to send his vote in, but Maya wasn’t able to get to Nate in time and he voted for Jason with Emily. Shortly after receiving the votes they received a new message, “Well well, looks like you weren’t able to come to a decision. Looks like I need to make one for you but that of course wouldn’t be fair. Since when am I ever fair? You’re right, never! - A”
The next day when watching the news, Aria sees a segment on Noel. Turns out somebody turned him in for allowing underage drinking at his last party. Aria goes to call Emily and the others to fill them in on what she just saw, but finds out that Emily’s parents found out her well kept secret that she was secretly a lesbian and shipped her off to Iowa.
Episode 3: The Chase is on
The next day the contestants waited well throughout the morning for a text from A. But A never works on their schedule. Aria started going about her day and planned a picnic with Ezra, thinking that maybe this had all been a horrible dream. Hanna made plans to go get manicures and pedicures with Mona at the King James Mall. Spencer hit the books and began studying for her upcoming AP Economics exam.
Around ten o’ clock at night the dreaded text message was received. “Hey bitches! Did you miss me? Meet up at the park in a half and hour, and don’t be late. Muah! –A”
Upon arriving at the park, Spencer looked around as she anxiously awaited the arrival of the others. When they did arrive they searched for the dreaded note that they knew A had left. Caleb found it at the entrance the woods and read it aloud. “Welcome to the next step in your challenge. Think you will make it to the end? Tonight you’re going to complete a scavenger hunt. I have hidden things in the woods that you are now facing. I have stolen some of Ali’s most precious items, and it’s your job to find them. The team that comes in first will be safe from having to eliminate somebody. As for the others, well you’ll see what I have in store. – A” Mona and Hanna head into the forest together with Caleb close behind. It was like the blind leading the blind and they instantly got lost in the dark. The Prowess and The Brainiacs head in shortly after followed by the Eccentric Artists. They try to stay near each other while trying to find the items that they’re searching for. They soon get split up and Spencer’s team takes an early lead before winning the challenge entirely. The Eccentric Artists come in close second with Hanna’s team in last.
The Brainiacs all hear the notable ping of their cell phones indicating a new text message. “Congrats is in order for you, and for that I’ll give you another clue. This item you’re seeking can cause the evidence I have against you to go up in flames. Happy Hunting! - A”
Having already gone through this same type of scenario once before, the remaining Fashionistas decide on who to get rid of. Hanna was in a tough position having to decide between her boyfriend, and her ex best friend who she was trying to patch ties with. Hanna and Caleb make the easy decision to get rid of Mona. The next day Mona is sent back to The Preserve Mental Institution after they were tipped off that she wasn’t doing as well as she claimed.
Episode 4: One Big Happy Hastings Family
The next day passes with no text message. The players instantly think that maybe A has given up on them. But to no relief, they receive the next text message around one A.M. “Get ready! Your next challenge awaits you. Meet at the Rosewood Country Club in 15 minutes, and don’t be late. –A”
When they arrive at the country club, they find a note next to a row of canoes. “Congrats, on surviving another round. Is it worth it? That all depends on how bad you want that coveted information. Tonight you’re going to be rowing across the pond here, whoever makes it across and back will be the winners this time. –A”
As the note was being read, Ian went missing. Spencer and Melissa try to look for him but he can’t be found. They decide that they can’t waste too much time since the other three teams are already halfway across the pond. They quickly hop into their canoes and start rowing in the hopes that one of the others will tip theirs over and lose some of their precious lead. Aria’s team quickly makes it to the other side and back leaving Spencer’s team in last and with Ian still missing.
The next clue that Aria’s team receives is, “The item that you seek is hidden in one of the player’s houses. Which one? Well you will have to figure that out. –A”
Spencer gets into a fight with Melissa on the way home. Melissa insists that it’s all Spencer’s fault that Ian disappeared and that that’s why they lost the challenge. When they reach their house, Melissa storms inside and Toby consoles Spencer. While they are alone, Spencer and Toby decide to vote out Melissa.
The next day the players find out that the police rearrested Ian on new charges brought against him for the murder of Ali due to new evidence that was found against him. Melissa is so upset that Ian is back in jail that she has an emotional breakdown.
Episode 5: Next time, stash emergency cover up in you purse
The next afternoon the next message from A arrives. “Meet at the gym in Philadelphia. Don’t know which gym I’m referring to? Ask Aria, she’ll know which one. Smooches! –A”
Upon arriving at the gym that Aria gave them directions to, they realize that it has a fight club atmosphere complete with a boxing ring. A note is taped to the side of the boxing ring. “Tonight you are competing for yourselves and I want to see how bad you want it. That’s right, you are no longer on teams and you better watch your back. You are going to first face off in pairs, whoever wins the fight will advance to the next round. The second round you will be all fighting each other at once. Don’t think you can handle it? Then you don’t deserve to win my game. I have picked the pairs for you. I hope you didn’t think you’d get off that easy. The pairs are: Spencer vs. Jenna, Maya vs. Aria, Hanna vs. Caleb, Jason vs. Nate, and Ezra vs. Toby. Happy fighting! -A”
In the first heat of Spencer vs. Jenna, Spencer easily overpowered Jenna and advanced to the next round. The others that joined her were Maya, Hanna, Jason and Toby. In the free for all round Aria, Hanna and Maya instantly gang up on Jason and Toby allowed Spencer to win and get him out of the competition. The girls then turned on each other with Maya out first, Aria follows shortly after when Spencer purposely knocks her to the ground and Spencer was not far behind when Hanna tripped her and started pulling her hair.
For winning, Hanna received the next clue which stated, “The item you most covet is hidden in one of the female player’s houses. Which one could it be? You’ll just have to see. – A.” Hanna, Spencer, and Aria quickly form the Pretty Little Liar alliance and bring in their respective boyfriends to gain a majority. The outcasts that remain were Jenna, Maya, Nate, and Jason. The Pretty Little Liars quickly come to the decision to vote for Jason because he was Ali’s brother and they seemed to fight more than any normal siblings do. Not to mention he couldn’t’ remember anything from the night she died, could he be the killer? The next day, the Rosewood Police arrest Jason on insurance fraud from when he purposely had somebody set his house on fire so he could collect the insurance money.
Episode 6: Aria’s Art Scene Debut
The next evening, the new message is received stating “Time to embrace your artistic side. Your job is to vandalize an area of Rosewood. What does it have to be? Where does it have to be? That doesn’t matter. What matters is that you get it done. If you don’t you will be the next on my list. Whoever does it the best according to my judgment will get the next clue. –A”
Aria decides to use spray paint and create a mural on the side of a building. Spencer decides to slash somebody’s tires and Hanna decides to smash the windows of her least favorite teacher at Rosewood Day. Ezra decides to trash his boss’s office and Toby goes for the approach of vandalizing the school. Nate and Maya team up and help each other to destroy the house of their least favorite relative. Jenna, whose cell phone battery died didn’t get the memo and didn’t go off to vandalize anything.
“Based on your work I’ve decided to pick Aria’s as the best one. As for Jenna, well she didn’t do anything so we’ll see what happens to her next. And don’t forget, you still need to vote somebody out! –A” Shortly after receiving the first message Aria received the next one with her clue, “The item you seek is located in the room that once housed two pretty little liars. Happy searching! -A” Aria immediately thought of when Hanna and Emily roomed together when Emily’s parents moved away but she didn’t want to jump to any conclusions.
The Pretty Little Liars alliance decides to target Maya since Jenna is already going to be eliminated. Seeing this as an easy vote they all rest easy that night. The next day they find out that Jenna forgot to tell her parents that she was faking being blind and they had sent her off to a special school in Philadelphia. Maya was arrested for possession of marijuana and was shipped off to True North for another session of rehab.
Episode 7: Take That, Bitches!
The next day they all received a separate text, “Remember the last charity fashion show that you participated in? Yeah, I do too, such fond memories of sabotaging it. Tonight it’s your turn to sabotage a fashion show. You will be participating in the fashion show and sabotaging the person of my choosing. Stay tuned! –A”
That evening the group meets up backstage at the fashion show, the staff already notified that they would be participating. Their phones all ping with a new text message shortly after they get there. Each girl is paired up with her boyfriend, are they willing to sabotage their own love in order to win? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Right before the fashion show is set to begin Nate steps outside and never makes it back in time. The others wonder what happened with him, but don’t fret too long as they have things to do. They all complete their tasks as planned, except for Ezra who couldn’t stand the thought of sabotaging his dear Aria.
Shortly after the fashion show ended, they find out that Nate was picked up on an outstanding warrant for his arrest due to drug related charges; I guess drug habits run in the family. The group soon receives the next clue that states, “The house that this object belongs to, is the girl who had the eating disorder. Kisses! –A” When receiving this message, Aria realizes that it must be Hanna that A is talking about, knowing that Hanna decided to stay at Spencer’s that night, Aria sneaks over and finds the lighter hidden in Hanna’s bedroom. She receives a new text shortly after, “Congrats Aria, you now have the chance to save yourself or somebody else in this game. That lighter you hold will burn the evidence I have against you or whoever you allow to use it, but it can only be used once. When you decide to use it, whoever you vote for will be the deciding vote. –A”
Ezra went home thinking that he must be safe since Nate met his untimely demise earlier than planned. But the next morning there’s a knock on the door from the Rosewood PD turns out he was caught having an affair with one of his high school summer school student at the college.
Episode 8: Rising from the Ashes
“Good morning, bitches! We’re going to start this next challenge right away. Today I’m going to ask you a series of questions on things that have happened so far in this game. Whoever gets the most answers correct will be the winner. Hope your memory is as good as mine! –A”
Spencer, always the overachiever, had been taking notes the entire time on things that she noticed so she easily won the challenge. When Aria went to talk to her friends about who they should vote out this time, she felt that she may be in danger since they all seemed so vague. When Aria leaves Spencer’s house, Spencer quickly rallies up Hanna, Caleb, and Toby to vote out Aria since she’s the only one left out of their major alliance that doesn’t have her boyfriend still in the game. The others quickly agree and send in their votes for Aria.
Aria, who still felt suspicious of what was going on, e-mailed her vote in to A, but instead she voted for Caleb and also told A that she would like to use the lighter that she found the night before in Hanna’s bedroom.
The next morning, as Spencer was reading the newspaper and enjoying her morning latte, she saw that Caleb’s picture was plastered over the front page of the newspaper. As she continued to read the article, she found out that Caleb had been arrested for hacking into government computers. She instantly knew that this had to be at the hands of A and quickly called the others over to her house. Aria, feeling guilty, explained what happened and why she did what she did. Hopefully they can find it in their hearts to forgive Aria, only time will tell.
Episode 9: Another One Bites the Dust
The next day the remaining 4 get the next message. “Meet at the local bakery at noon sharp and don’t be late. If you’re late you will suffer the consequences. –A” Knowing not to mess around they got up early and met up at the bakery. On the door was a typed note, “Today you’re going to be involved in a cupcake eating contest. Whichever one of you is able to eat the most cupcakes will win this round and live to see another day in this competition. Think you can handle it Hannakins? Or do you still have an aversion to food? Happy eating! Kisses! –A”
Once inside the bakery, they see hundreds of cupcakes. Hanna feels nauseous, not having ingested this many calories in years. They all sit down at a table and start to eat. Spencer is out first claiming that her stomach hurts. Aria isn’t far behind leaving Toby and Hanna left in the competition. Hanna knows that she can’t give up; she can’t let A win at this game. Toby continues on through the competition and Hanna keeps up with him. Suddenly Toby can’t take it anymore and refuses to eat another bite crowning Hanna the winner.
After the competition Aria confronts Hanna to talk about what happened last round but Hanna wants nothing to do with her; after all it is all Aria’s fault that Caleb is now out of the game. With enough pleading Hanna finally decides to listen to Aria’s reasoning. Aria explains to Hanna that if she helps Spencer and Toby to vote her out this round, then next round Hanna would be next and she wouldn’t have a way to save herself. Hanna agrees to vote with Aria and cause a tie.
The next day, Spencer looks out her window across the street at Toby’s house to see him hauled away by two policemen. When she runs outside and asks what is going on, she is told that Jenna pressed assault charges against him for the incident that caused her blindness. Jenna figured if she had to be miserable at a school in Philadelphia that she no longer needed, then she was going to make the rest of her family miserable too. Looks like Jenna has been taking lessons from A.
Episode 10: They Were All So Wrong
Early the next morning the final three girls receive a new text message that reads, “Rise and shine! Today is the last day of the game, and you have to get a heads start if you want to win. Today you are going to be rescuing one of your dear loved ones. I have programmed a GPS and left it in each of your cars. Aria, have you seen your mom Ella lately? Maybe you should go see if she’s OK. Hanna, is your mom Ashley still dating Officer Wilden, or is she really not home? And Spencer, you haven’t heard from your dear Grandmother lately.. I wonder what could have happened to her. You better get there fast, or they may not make it. Smooches! –A”
The girls jump out of bed in their respective homes. Hanna rushes to her mom’s room and finds nobody there. Aria searches her house and finds her mother nowhere to be home. Spencer throws on her shoes and runs out the door. Each girl heads off to their respective destinations to save their precious loved ones.
Aria reaches her destination first which is an old dilapidated barn on the outskirts of town. Shortly after arriving Hanna pulls up in her silver Prius. Aria’s eyes widen, shocked that Hanna is here as well. But both girls are even more surprised when Spencer shows up too. They realize that A sent them to the same location and begin searching for a way into the barn to save their family members. Aria finally pries the door open and they rush inside… to find nobody inside. Three distinct pings sound out through the barn. The girls check their phones… “Did you think that I really stole your relatives? Guess again. And congrats Aria on being the first to arrive, I guess that means you want to know who I am and who killed your beloved Ali. Too bad I don’t hand out information like that. Better luck next time. Thanks for entertaining me! Smooches! -A”
The girls in shock that they fell for such a horrendous trick trudge back out to their cars, but not before a bunch of police cars surround them. All three girls are hauled off to Rosewood Jail and holding center. What were they being charged with? Breaking and entering. Looks like A won again.
Extra Information:
On the season premiere of season three (the season that is currently airing on ABC Family) it was found out that Ali's body had been dug up. That's where I got the inspiration for the first 'challenge' that the players would have to endure.
On the TV show, both Maya and Ian are dead but I brought them back to "life" for my fan fic so that I could plan it the way I wanted to.
The cupcake eating challenge was inspired by the episode where A sent Hanna a box of pig decorated cupcakes and she had to eat them in front of a large group of people; A is quite determined to ruin these people's lives and will stop at nothing to achieve it. I decided to make this into a challenge for my fan fic so in a way Hanna could say, "see I can beat you at your own game."
At the final challenge when A "hid" their loved ones, I chose Spencer's grandmother because in the books Spencer has a rocky relationship with her entire family and at one point even thought she was adopted.
